Wartburg is a 230-bed nursing home in Brooklyn, NY. It offers a wide array of social services from two adjacent buildings surrounding a courtyard. An antiquated boiler plant served each of the buildings.
The savings produced by the CHP plant allowed management to finance a new HVAC plant to truly maximize the savings.
The new central plant housing the CHP and HVAC system is now serving both buildings. Small gas boilers supplement the three CHP modules. The boilers come on line only on the coldest days of the year. Three insulated water tanks are used for thermal storage, and a new electrical service completed the scope. A digital control system controls output and follows demand for optimal operation.
